A novel self-floating silica adsorbent for antibiotic ciprofloxacin and nickel (II) ion

Chao Hu et al.

Summary: A novel self-floating silica adsorbent was prepared by introducing sulfonic acid groups onto hollow glass microspheres via post-grafting technique, showing satisfactory adsorption performance for CIP and Ni2+ with stable self-floating capability and wide pH adaptability. Langmuir and Elovich models fit the adsorption isotherm and kinetic data well, and thermodynamic calculation confirms the spontaneity and feasibility of the process. The main adsorption mechanism involves electrostatic interaction.

Chitin-biocalcium as a novel superior composite for ciprofloxacin removal: Synergism of adsorption and flocculation

Rui Zhao et al.

Summary: A low-cost chitin-biocalcium (CC) composite was developed for the removal of ciprofloxacin (CIP) in water, showing superior removal capacity, rapid kinetics, high efficiency, and wide pH adaptability. The study revealed that the removal process was controlled by chemisorption and mass transport, and the superior performance was attributed to cation bridging, cation complexation, and hydrogen bonding.

Insight into the co-adsorption behaviors and interface interactions mechanism of chlortetracycline and lead onto struvite loaded diatomite

Li Jing et al.

Summary: The study explored the co-adsorption behaviors of chlortetracycline and lead onto struvite loaded diatomite, and investigated their interface interactions mechanism. It was found that the presence of lead increased the adsorption capacity of chlortetracycline, while decreasing the adsorption capacity of lead in aqueous solution. Interface interactions facilitated the removal of chlortetracycline but inhibited the removal of lead.

Efficient removal of diclofenac from surface water by the functionalized multilayer magnetic adsorbent: Kinetics and mechanism

Rui Zhao et al.

Summary: The development of a novel multilayer adsorbent FCS-PD with magnetic separation ability and surface functionality has shown great potential for removing pharmaceutical diclofenac (DCF) from water. With a maximum adsorption capacity of 434.78 mg/g under neutral conditions, FCS-PD demonstrated superior performance compared to other reported adsorbents. Analysis on high-resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) revealed the mechanism behind DCF removal by FCS-PD.

Role of driven approach on the piezoelectric ozonation processes: Comparing ultrasound with hydro-energy as driving forces

Ying Zheng et al.

Summary: This study compared the piezoelectric ozonation processes driven by hydraulic and ultrasonic forces, revealing that ultrasound-driven process achieved higher efficiency and generated more active species. Despite that, it consumed less energy, mainly due to the significantly higher piezoelectric potential and current density generated by ultrasound, leading to different paths of active species generation.
