Structure investigation for nickel and cobalt complexes formed during solvent extraction with the extractants Cyanex 272, Versatic 10 and their mixtures

Adriana Johanny Murcia Santanilla et al.

Summary: This study investigates the structure of organometallic complexes formed between nickel and cobalt with different extractants, revealing variations in the coordination geometries of the complexes in different organic phases. Analysis methods such as UV-vis spectroscopy, ATR/FTIR, TGA, and Job's method were utilized to characterize the complexes and propose structures for each metal-extractant complex.

Recovery of cobalt and nickel from magnesium-rich sulfate leach liquor with magnesium oxide precipitation method

Kui Liu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the use of magnesium oxide slurry to precipitate and separate nickel and cobalt from the sulphate leach liquor of laterite nickel ores. By adjusting the conditions, it is possible to maximize the precipitation of nickel and cobalt while minimizing the precipitation of magnesium. The results show that high purity nickel and cobalt precipitates can be obtained under controlled equilibrium pH, and the regenerated magnesium oxide powder can be recycled for further use.
