Synergistically catalytic nanozymes based on heme-protein active site model for dual-signal and ultrasensitive detection of H2O2 in living cells

Xiaojun Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, a peroxidase-like nanozyme was developed by self-assembly of a cationic metalloporphyrin and supramolecular-modified gold nanoparticles in aqueous solution, showing highly catalytic activity due to the synergistic effects of nanomaterials and structural mimic of a heme-protein active site. The nanozyme exhibited stability and superior catalytic performance under various conditions and was successfully applied in colorimetric and electrochemical bioassays for in situ detection of H2O2 in living cells.

Three-dimensional/two-dimensional photonic crystal hydrogels for biosensing

Peiyan Shen et al.

Summary: PCHs, consisting of PCs and stimuli-responsive hydrogels, act as a sensing system for specific analytes by undergoing volume phase transitions upon exposure to external stimuli. The VPT of the hydrogel causes changes in the photonic stopband of the PCs, leading to shifts in Bragg diffraction peak wavelengths. This sensing mechanism allows for the development of various PCH sensors capable of detecting external stimuli.

From colloidal particles to photonic crystals: advances in self-assembly and their emerging applications

Zhongyu Cai et al.

Summary: Photonic crystals (PhCs) have attracted intense interests for their potential applications in optics and photonics, with self-assembled colloidal crystals (CCs) offering unprecedented opportunities. This paper reviews state-of-the-art techniques in self-assembly of colloidal particles for large-area high-quality CCs, discussing common defects encountered, mechanisms of crack/defect formation, and versatile fabrication methods for defect-free CCs. The advanced self-assembly methods developed for high-quality CCs and unique photonic structures are highlighted, along with future approaches in fabrication and real-world applications.
