Probing the pore structure of hierarchical EU-1 zeolites by adsorption of large molecules and through catalytic reaction

Zaibin Guo et al.

Summary: The hierarchical EU-1 zeolites prepared using organofunctionalized fumed silica show improved adsorption and diffusion of toluene and 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene, as well as higher conversion rates in the catalytic transformation of 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene compared to conventional microporous EU-1 zeolites. The increased mesoporosity leads to enhanced performance in both adsorption and catalytic processes.

Flexible resistive NO2 gas sensor of three-dimensional crumpled MXene Ti3C2Tx/ZnO spheres for room temperature application

Zijie Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, a room-temperature flexible NO2 sensor based on three-dimensional crumpled MXene sphere prepared by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis technology is developed. The performance is further improved by designing 3D crumpled MXene sphere/ZnO composites sensitive electrode with high specific surface area and active sites. The excellent NO2 sensing properties are attributed to the high surface area, abundance of edges and defects, and the formation of MXene/ZnO p-n heterojunction.

The influence of different ZnO nanostructures on NO2 sensing performance

Hongtao Wang et al.

Summary: Three different ZnO nanostructures (nanorods/flowers/spheres) were prepared using hydrothermal method or water bath, and their sensing properties to NO2 activated by UV light were investigated. The nanospheres showed the highest response due to their largest specific surface area, while the nanorods exhibited the fastest response and recovery speeds. The nanoflowers performed in between the nanorods and nanospheres in terms of gas-sensing response and response speed.

2D layer assembly of Pt-ZnO nanoparticles on reduced graphene oxide for flexible NO2 sensors

Joon-Young Kang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the heterogeneous sensitization of nanocatalysts using Pt and ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) on porous reduced graphene oxides (Pt_ZnO/PRGO) driven by a metal-organic framework (MOF)-templated synthesis and subsequent pyrolysis. Pt_ZnO/PRGO showed improved NO2 sensing properties with increased reaction sites and controllable size of ZnO NPs, exhibiting reversible reaction kinetics. The potential applications of MOF-derived Pt_ZnO/PRGO in wearable chemical sensors were showcased, highlighting excellent mechanical stability and reliable response.

Selective ppb-level NO2 gas sensor based on SnO2-boron nitride nanotubes

Bharat Sharma et al.

Summary: This paper demonstrated a hybrid SnO2-BNNTs sensor for trace ppb-level NO2 detection, with a low detection limit and better sensor response than the SnO2 sensor. The sensing characteristics of the sensor were studied, including response, repeatability, stability, and response-recovery time. The increased space charge depleted regions at the p-n heterojunction promoted a tunneling effect and provided conducting channels through BNNTs for an improved sensor response.

The controllable assembly of the heterojunction interface of the ZnO@rGO for enhancing the sensing performance of NO2 at room temperature and sensing mechanism

Rui Gao et al.

Summary: The ZnO@rGO composite was grown in-situ on a ceramic tube substrate without the use of a template or surfactant, resulting in improved material conductivity and increased active sites for adsorption of NO2 molecules. The combination of rGO and ZnO significantly enhanced the response of the composite to NO2 at room temperature, showing excellent selectivity and a good linear relationship in the concentration range of 0.1 to 10 ppm. XPS and GC-MS technologies were used to examine changes in element composition and status before and after exposure to NO2, and DFT calculations demonstrated the beneficial effect of the p-n heterostructure on improving gas response capability.
