Optical pH Sensing in Milk: A Small Puzzle of Indicator Concentrations and the Best Detection Method

Olga Voskoboynikova et al.

Summary: Optical chemical sensors can provide different responses depending on the readout and evaluation method used. This study compared the determination of pH in real milk samples using photometry or colorimetry with the electrochemical potentiometry method. It was found that adjusting the concentration of the pH indicator inside the sensor membrane can improve the precision and accuracy of pH determination.

Deep Eutectic Solvents: A Review of Fundamentals and Applications

Benworth B. Hansen et al.

Summary: Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) exhibit significant depressions in melting points and tunable physicochemical properties, but there is still a lack of predictive understanding of their microscopic mechanisms and structure-property relationships. Research on complex hydrogen bonding is crucial for a deeper understanding and development of fundamental frameworks for DESs.

Interfacial Properties of Hydrophobic Deep Eutectic Solvents with Water

Hirad S. Salehi et al.

Summary: This study utilized molecular dynamics simulations to compute the interfacial properties of hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents (DESs) with water. The results showed that DESs exhibited high hydrophobicity with negligible water solubilities. Different charge scaling factors led to variations in the interfacial tensions between DESs and water, with distinct density profiles of decanoic acid observed at the interfaces.
