A Real-Time Respiration Monitoring and Classification System Using a Depth Camera and Radars

Shan He et al.

Summary: This study presents a contactless method for estimating respiration rate and classifying respiration patterns. Multiple radars and a depth camera were used to ensure accurate measurements in realistic settings. The proposed algorithms were validated through experiments, achieving low estimation errors and high classification accuracy. A real-time system was also implemented for monitoring the respiration of two subjects.

Fast and cost-effective method for non-contact respiration rate tracking using UWB impulse radar

Ibrahim Kakouche et al.

Summary: Monitoring breathing rate using a novel non-contact UWB impulse radar method provides valuable insights into human health and early warnings of potential disasters. The proposed approach utilizes the Generalized Goertzel Algorithm and complex adaptive notch filter for breathing event detection and respiration rate tracking, with the addition of a double exponential moving average for detecting apnea events.
