Similar Simulation Test of Overlying Rock Failure and Crack Evolution in Fully Mechanized Caving Face with Compound Roof

Wang Xiaolei

Summary: The study on the overburden failure and crack evolution in coal mining process is essential for the prevention and control of mine water and gas. The height of the fracture zone is greater than the caving zone, and the short-distance overlying rock of coal seams are the main areas for mining cracks accumulation.

Fracture criterion of basic roof deformation in fully mechanized mining with large dip angle

Ke Yang et al.

Summary: The study establishes a basic roof mechanical model to explore the stress distribution and pressure characteristics of the basic roof in large dip angle coal seam mining. The findings suggest that false roof increases the differentiation of gangue's filling rate in goaf and improves the evolution rate of basic roof fractures, being the main influencing factor on stress and deformation distribution in the basic roof.

Investigation of Failure Mechanism of Inclined Coal Pillars: Numerical Modelling and Tensorial Statistical Analysis with Field Validations

Arka Jyoti Das et al.

Summary: Analysis of the failure mechanism of inclined coal pillars is complex due to asymmetric stress distribution and shearing tendency along bedding planes. In-depth investigation and quantification of principal stress magnitudes and orientations at the onset of failure are essential. Results show that inclined coal pillars are highly susceptible to shear failure with increasing dip angles, and the mean induced principal stresses can be quantified by tensorial and classical statistics for better prediction of failure conditions.

Investigation on Surrounding Rock Stability Control Technology of High Stress Roadway in Steeply Dipping Coal Seam

Honglin Liu et al.

Summary: The study used numerical simulation to explore the stress distribution in surrounding rocks during underground roadway excavations in steeply dipping coal seams, proposing a damage coefficient to classify roof conditions and applying an asymmetric support technique. This research confirmed the feasibility of maintaining rock integrity through the asymmetric and partition support technique.

Boundary distribution of top-coal limit-equilibrium zone in fully mechanized caving in steeply dipping coal seams

Ding Lang et al.

Summary: This study focused on the impact of coal seam dip on the gradual deterioration of top coal, using theoretical analysis, physical simulation, numerical simulation, and field measurements to quantitatively characterize the limit equilibrium boundary of top coal. The results revealed a consistent, asymmetric 'double arch' distribution of the two boundaries along the incline, with specific boundaries determined for different regions of the working face.

Analysis on the Regular of Underground Pressure in Large Dip Angle Coal Seam with Soft Roof and Floor

Jianjun Shi et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the dip angle of coal seams and mining areas in Guanyinshan coal mine, as well as the analysis of main roof pressure and results from the three-dimensional simulation software. The research found that the initial caving distance of the working face and the initial pressure distance of the main roof have an impact on the caving height of the main roof, which increases gradually with mining activities.
