Knockdown of circPUM1 impedes cell growth, metastasis and glycolysis of papillary thyroid cancer via enhancing MAPK1 expression by serving as the sponge of miR-21-5p

Yanqi Li et al.

Summary: The study revealed that circPUM1 is upregulated in papillary thyroid cancer and inhibits the expression of MAPK1 by targeting miR-21-5p, thereby impeding the progression of cancer.

RNA binding protein PUM1 promotes colon cancer cell proliferation and migration

Ravi Gor et al.

Summary: This study is the first to demonstrate the role of PUM1 in colon cancer development, showing its high expression in colon cancer cells and its promotion of proliferation, migration, and colony formation. PUM1 overexpression also leads to an increase in spheroid size and number, indicating its involvement in maintaining cancer stem cells.

CAFs-Derived Exosomal miRNA-130a Confers Cisplatin Resistance of NSCLC Cells Through PUM2-Dependent Packaging

Tao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that CAFs-derived exosomes confer cisplatin resistance to NSCLC cells by transferring miRNA-130a, with PUM2 identified as a critical factor in packaging miRNA-130a into the exosomes. The results suggest that CAFs-derived exosomal miRNA-130a may be a potential therapeutic target for cisplatin resistance in NSCLC.

CircPUM1 promotes hepatocellular carcinoma progression through the miR-1208/MAP3K2 axis

Yaqiong Zhang et al.

Summary: Circular RNA circPUM1 plays a crucial role in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma, promoting cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, as well as regulating the development of HCC by up-regulating the expression of MAP3K2.

Circular RNA RBM33 contributes to cervical cancer progression via modulation of the miR-758-3p/PUM2 axis

Yi Ding et al.

Summary: In cervical cancer, circRBM33 promotes cancer progression by interacting with miR-758-3p to upregulate PUM2. Experimental evidence supports the role of circRBM33 in promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and glycolysis while inhibiting apoptosis in cervical cancer cells.

Human Pumilio proteins directly bind the CCR4-NOT deadenylase complex to regulate the transcriptome

Isioma I. I. Enwerem et al.

Summary: PUM1 and PUM2 are sequence-specific RNA-binding proteins essential for vertebrate development and neurological functions. They negatively regulate gene expression by accelerating degradation of specific mRNAs, primarily through direct interaction with the CCR4-NOT complex. These findings reveal a molecular model of repression by PUM1&2 via recruitment of CNOT deadenylation machinery in a decapping-dependent mRNA decay pathway.

CircPUM1 promotes cell growth and glycolysis in NSCLC via up-regulating METTL3 expression through miR-590-5p

Mingjun Li et al.

Summary: The study found that circPUM1 is highly expressed in NSCLC, and knocking it down can inhibit cell proliferation and glycolysis. MiR-590-5p can directly suppress the progression of NSCLC by regulating METTL3. CircPUM1 can regulate tumor growth and glycolysis in NSCLC through the miR-590-5p/METTL3 axis.

Long non-coding RNA NORAD inhibition upregulates microRNA-323a-3p to suppress tumorigenesis and development of breast cancer through the PUM1/eIF2 axis

Pengfei Shi et al.

Summary: Research has shown a complex interaction between NORAD, miR-323a-3p, and PUM1 in breast cancer, with their involvement in the development of the disease through the PUM1/eIF2 axis. Upregulation of NORAD and PUM1, along with downregulation of miR-323a-3p, is associated with poor prognosis in breast cancer. Inhibiting NORAD or elevating miR-323a-3p can suppress malignant behaviors of breast cancer cells.

Phosphorylation of PUF-A/PUM3 on Y259 modulates PUF-A stability and cell proliferation

Hung-Wei Lin et al.

Summary: The Y259 phosphorylation of PUF-A plays an important role in tumorigenesis, as its knockout reduces colony formation and invasion capacity in cells, and the unphosphorylated mutant of PUF-A weakens protein stability.

PUM1 represses CDKN1B translation and contributes to prostate cancer progression

Li Xin et al.

Summary: The study reveals that high expression of PUM1 in prostate cancer is associated with reduced survival, knocking down PUM1 can decrease cell proliferation, reduce tumor size, and affect CDKN1B protein level. Therefore, the PUM1-CDKN1B regulatory axis may represent an important mechanism in prostate cancer cell growth and tumorigenesis.

Circular RNA PUM1 (CircPUM1) attenuates trophoblast cell dysfunction and inflammation in recurrent spontaneous abortion via the MicroRNA-30a-5p (miR-30a-5p)/JUNB axis

Lihua Zhu et al.

Summary: Our study demonstrated that circPUM1 could inhibit RSA occurrence and development by regulating trophoblast cell processes and protecting against inflammation through the miR-30a-5p/JUNB axis. This provides a potential new target for improving the diagnosis and treatment of RSA.
