Facile route to implement transformation strengthening in titanium alloys

Guohua Zhao et al.

Summary: This study reported a method to deploy transformation-mediated strengthening in titanium alloys by supervised activation of TRIP and TWIP through mechanism-driven modelling, improving the mechanical properties of materials. By developing new alloys, notable resistance to strain localization was achieved, along with significant strain-hardening effects.

Abnormal strain rate strengthening and strain hardening with constitutive modeling in body-centered cubic {332} 113 TWIP titanium alloy

Kai Yao et al.

Summary: This study systematically clarifies the instantaneous strain rate sensitivity (ISRS) and strain rate sensitivity of strain hardening (SRSS) in the {332} < 113 > Ti-15Mo alloy exhibiting TWIP effect. The results show that ISRS is positively correlated with the change in the dislocation activation volume, while SRSS is negatively correlated with the evolution of deformation microstructures.

The role of strain rate and texture in the deformation of commercially pure titanium at cryogenic temperature

Min-Su Lee et al.

Summary: The study investigates the influence of strain rate and crystallographic texture on the hardening behavior and ductility of commercially pure titanium plate. Lower strain rate and cryogenic temperature lead to improved elongation and strain hardening, with a more significant effect observed at low temperatures.

Static and dynamic Hall-Petch relations in {332} 113 TWIP Ti-15Mo alloy

Kai Yao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of grain size on the tensile properties of Ti-15Mo alloy, revealing that the impact decreased with increasing strain and eventually became negative. A dynamic Hall-Petch relation was established based on effective grain size, showcasing twin activation, twin suppression, and various interactions.

Investigation on the deformation mechanism of Ti-5Al-2.5Sn ELI titanium alloy at cryogenic and room temperatures

Zichuan Lu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of temperature on the mechanical properties of Ti-5Al-2.5Sn ELI titanium alloy through tensile tests conducted at temperatures ranging from 20 K to 300 K. The experimental results showed that the alloy exhibited different deformation behaviors at room temperature and cryogenic temperature, with twinning deformation significantly improving the plastic deformation capacity at low temperatures. Additionally, the presence of a large number of dislocation structures contributed to enhancing the ultimate tensile strength of the alloy under cryogenic conditions.
