Alleviation of Postharvest Chilling Injury of Carambola Fruit by γ-aminobutyric Acid: Physiological, Biochemical, and Structural Characterization

Francine Ngaffo Mekontso et al.

Summary: The study found that exogenous GABA treatment helps reduce chilling injury in carambola fruit, maintain pericarp lightness, decrease electrolyte leakage and malondialdehyde content, while increasing antioxidant enzyme activities. Additionally, the treatment promoted the accumulation of proline and ascorbic acid.

Exogenous application of hydrogen sulfide and γ-aminobutyric acid alleviates chilling injury and preserves quality of persimmon fruit (Diospyros kaki, cv. Karaj) during cold storage

Zohreh Niazi et al.

Summary: Our study on the exogenous application of hydrogen sulfide and gamma-aminobutyric acid to persimmon fruit showed that treating the fruit with 3 mM NaHS or 7.5 mM GABA can effectively alleviate chilling injury, enhance fruit quality, and maintain freshness and flavor.
