Parental Risk Constellations and Future Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) in Offspring: A Combined HUNT Survey and Health Registries Study

Jasmina Burdzovic Andreas et al.

Summary: This study examined the risk of developing future alcohol use disorder (AUD) among offspring from families with different combinations of parental risk factors. The results showed that offspring from families characterized by weekly binge drinking, low education, and poor mental health in parents were more likely to develop AUD, even after adjusting for covariates. This suggests that parental drinking patterns, along with additional risk factors like mental health and education, can significantly impact the risk of AUD in offspring.
