Petrographic Record and Conditions of Expansive Hydration of Anhydrite in the Recent Weathering Zone at the Abandoned Dingwall Gypsum Quarry, Nova Scotia, Canada

Adrian Jarzyna et al.

Summary: This article investigates the weathering process of the Carboniferous Windsor Group anhydrite deposits in the Dingwall gypsum quarry in Nova Scotia, Canada. The study reveals that the anhydrite undergoes hydration, transforming into secondary gypsum, resulting in an increase in volume and deformation of the quarry bottom. The growth of secondary gypsum crystals and their relationship with the anhydrite distribution are also observed.

Summary: This study proposed an efficient method for predicting AOp using the CFNN-LM model, which outperformed the GRNN and ELM models in terms of prediction accuracy. Sensitivity analysis revealed that the maximum charge per delay was considered the most influential feature in modeling AOp.

Predicting methane solubility in water and seawater by machine learning algorithms: Application to methane transport modeling

Reza Taherdangkoo et al.

Summary: This study used machine learning algorithms to predict methane solubility in aquatic systems and found that the BRT-BO model is the most rigorous for this task, with a coefficient of determination of 0.99 and a mean squared error of 1.19 x 10(-7). The performance of the BRT-BO model was satisfactory, showing an acceptable agreement with experimental data. Comparison results demonstrated the superior performance of the BRT-BO model for predicting methane solubility in aquatic systems over a span of temperature, pressure, and ionic strength that occurs in deep marine environments.
