Melting and solidification processes of phase change material in evacuated tube solar collector with U-shaped spirally corrugated tube

Hassan Olfian et al.

Summary: The thermal performance of an evacuated tube solar collector integrated with phase change material was evaluated in the study. The corrugated tube showed a significant enhancement in collector efficiency by 21.55%, especially due to longer discharging process at night. The number of lobes had the most impact on thermal performance among the investigated geometrical parameters.

Numerical study of an Evacuated Tube Solar Collector incorporating a Nano-PCM as a latent heat storage system

Raja Elarem et al.

Summary: The study showed that adding fins has a significant effect on the phase change heat transfer of paraffin in the ETSC. As the fin thickness decreases, the PCM melts faster. The addition of 1% Cu to the PCM was found to be the optimal mass concentration to increase the HTF outlet temperature by 2K, while the ultimate flow rate causing the entire PCM mass to melt was determined to be 0.003 kg/s.

Summary: This study improved the thermal performance of an all-glass evacuated tube solar water heater by integrating PCM and NCPCM, resulting in increased energy efficiency and hot water supply temperature. The results demonstrated that the incorporation of PCM and explicit dispersion of SCi and CuO nanoparticles in NCPCM significantly enhanced the system's thermal performance.
