Comprehensive analysis of electrical-optical performance and application potential for 3D concentrating photovoltaic window

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: The innovative 3D concentrating photovoltaic technology can be integrated into buildings as windows, improving the efficiency of PV cells and maintaining daylighting performance. Lab tests showed that the 3D CPVD modules could increase maximum power by 2.89 times compared to bare cells. Simulation and experimental research comprehensively analyzed the outdoor performance of the 3D CPVD windows. 3D CPVD windows with a transmittance of 9.47% provide brighter and more uniform interior daylighting. Life cycle assessment demonstrated the energy-saving and application potential of 3D CPVD windows.
