Atomic-scale insight into the pyrolysis of polycarbonate by ReaxFF-based reactive molecular dynamics simulation

Qiang Liu et al.

Summary: The isothermal pyrolysis behavior of bisphenol-A polycarbonate under anoxic conditions was studied using ReaxFF simulations, which successfully reproduced the main pyrolysis products observed in experiments. The pyrolysis of polycarbonate was dominated by random chain scission, with carbonate groups being more vulnerable to high temperatures. ReaxFF simulations revealed reaction routes of various pyrolysis products and indicated that certain reactions like cyclic oligomer formation, hydrolysis, and transesterification were less likely to occur at extremely high temperatures.

Molecular dynamic study on hydrogen production from unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine in supercritical water

Lei Yi et al.

Summary: Supercritical water gasification technology has been proven to be an effective method for resource utilization and harmless treatment. Atomistic simulation was used to supplement previous experiments in understanding the gasification mechanism of UDMH in supercritical water, revealing that high temperature favors carbon-nitrogen bond breaking while low temperature favors nitrogen-nitrogen bond breaking, impacting product distribution.

High-temperature pyrolysis of isoprenoid hydrocarbon p-menthane using ReaxFF molecular dynamics simulation

Yutong Wang et al.

Summary: The pyrolysis chemistry of p-menthane was investigated using ReaxFF molecular dynamics simulations, revealing that the scission of isopropyl and the ring-open reaction adjacent to isopropyl are key steps in p-menthane decomposition. Important product generation and consumption pathways were tracked, and a detailed reaction scheme was proposed. The apparent activation energy calculated from simulations matched experimental results, demonstrating the effectiveness of using ReaxFF simulations to explain and extend previous experimental studies.

Ting Si et al.

Summary: This paper investigated the migration and transformation of sodium carboxylate during Zhundong coal pyrolysis and combustion using the ReaxFF MD method. It was found that sodium was mainly released in the form of atom and inorganic substance, and the kinetic parameters for the release of sodium into various species were quantitatively determined. This study provides a basis for understanding the migration and transformation of sodium in coal at the atomic level.
