Non-pharmaceutical interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic: A review

Nicola Perra

Summary: Infectious diseases and human behavior are closely linked, with the outbreak of COVID-19 leading to significant behavioral changes. Non-pharmaceutical interventions have played a key role in combating the virus, prompting various societal processes to adapt. The availability of data describing behavioral changes induced by the pandemic has increased dramatically, providing opportunities for future research and challenges.

Optimal, near-optimal, and robust epidemic control

Dylan H. Morris et al.

Summary: In the absence of drugs and vaccines, societies use non-pharmaceutical interventions such as social distancing to reduce disease transmission rates, aiming to decrease or delay the epidemic peak. Policy design relies on numerical simulations, but implementation errors can lead to significant increases in peak prevalence.

COVID-19, lockdowns and well-being: Evidence from Google Trends

Abel Brodeur et al.

Summary: The study found that the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown measures may severely affect people's mental health, especially in Europe and America. Search data showed an increase in searches related to boredom, loneliness, worry, and sadness, while searches for stress, suicide, and divorce decreased.
