Summary: The history of the scientific enterprise demonstrates the existence of gender, identity, and racial inequity, and the scientific institutions have allowed discrimination and harassment. This has resulted in a suboptimal research system and limited perspective on research agendas. To change this, the scientific community needs to reexamine its values and collectively pursue a moonshot-level new equity agenda.
