Strigolactone biosynthesis, transport and perception

Kiyoshi Mashiguchi et al.

Summary: Strigolactones are plant hormones that regulate developmental processes and environmental responses, also acting as root-derived chemical signals. Recent advances in SL research have provided breakthroughs in understanding biosynthesis, transport and perception of these hormones.

Specific methylation of (11R)-carlactonoic acid by an Arabidopsis SABATH methyltransferase

Takatoshi Wakabayashi et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the At4g36470 gene, co-expressed with the MAX1 gene responsible for CLA formation in Arabidopsis, may be involved in the carboxymethylation of CLA. The At4g36470 protein showed exclusive activity against naturally occurring (11R)-CLA and had a relatively smaller K-m value compared to other Arabidopsis SABATH MTs. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that At4g36470 and its orthologs in non-canonical SL-producing plants may play a role in the biosynthesis of non-canonical SLs.
