Polyethylene glycol covalently modified the corroded hexagonal boron nitride to improve the thermal conductivity of epoxy composites

Fanghong Yang et al.

Summary: The study shows that by reacting h-BN with sulfonyl chloride at room temperature, active groups can be generated, which can then be used to introduce PEG through a DielsAlder reaction. This improves the dispersibility and compatibility of h-BN in epoxy resin matrix, leading to enhanced thermal conductivity of the composites.

Ultrahigh-Aspect-Ratio Boron Nitride Nanosheets Leading to Superhigh In-Plane Thermal Conductivity of Foldable Heat Spreader

Qingwei Yan et al.

Summary: A rapid and high-yield method based on a microfluidization technique is developed to obtain exfoliated BNNS with a record high aspect ratio of approximate to 1500 and low degree of defects. The composite film made of BNNS and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) matrix exhibits an in-plane thermal conductivity of 67.6 W m(-1) K-1 at a BNNS loading of 83 wt %, leading to a record high value of thermal conductivity enhancement (approximate to 35,500). This provides a practical route to produce electrically insulating polymer composites with high thermal conductivity for thermal management applications in modern electronic devices.

Decoupling of inter-particle polarization and intra-particle polarization in core-shell structured nanocomposites towards improved dielectric performance

Wenying Zhou et al.

Summary: This study investigates polymer nanocomposites containing a series of Al@Al2O3 nanofillers with different shell thicknesses. It demonstrates that forming an insulating shell enables independent control of intra-particle polarization and inter-particle polarization, leading to high dielectric constant and low dielectric loss. This core-shell structured nanocomposites not only surpass unmodified nanofiller composites in terms of dielectric properties, but also improve thermal conductivity and field resistivity, resulting in stable operation at low temperatures.
