Synthesis, structural characterization, docking simulation and in vitro antiproliferative activity of the new gold(III) complex with 2-pyridineethanol

Magdalena Malik et al.

Summary: The synthesis and characterization of a gold(III) complex containing 2-pyridineethanol, as well as its anti-cancer properties in various cell lines, have been investigated in this study. The complex showed significant cytotoxicity against A549 and MCF-7 cells, comparable to the reference drug cisplatin. Docking simulations suggested that the complex exerts anticancer effects through different mechanisms of action compared to cisplatin.

Ninhydrin as a novel DNA hybridization indicator applied to a highly reusable electrochemical genosensor for Candida auris

Pedro H. G. Guedes et al.

Summary: This study developed a genosensor using a gold electrode and ninhydrin to detect C. auris gDNA with high sensitivity and selectivity, demonstrating potential for accurate detection in biological samples. The genosensor can be reused multiple times and maintained 100% response rate even after 80 days of storage.

Platinum Complexes in Colorectal Cancer and Other Solid Tumors

Beate Koeberle et al.

Summary: Cisplatin is effective in treating various solid tumors, but not in colorectal cancer due to alterations in DNA damage signaling and repair mechanisms. Improvement in cisplatin-based chemotherapy for colorectal cancer may be achieved through newly designed analogues and biochemical modulators. Overcoming resistance in cancers can involve targeting DNA damage signaling pathways and utilizing improved platinum compounds.

Gold(III) complexes with thiosemicarbazonate ligands as potential anticancer agents: Cytotoxicity and interactions with biomolecular targets

Bruna Possato et al.

Summary: These gold(III) complexes show promise as potential candidates for future anticancer drugs against low sensitive or cisplatin resistant tumors, possessing strong antiproliferative activities and affinity to biotargets. However, one of the complexes exhibited lower toxicity to fibroblasts compared to the other, highlighting the need for further investigation into the therapeutic potential of these compounds.
