Carbon emission efficiency of China's industry sectors: From the perspective of embodied carbon emissions

Peng Gao et al.

Summary: This study analyzed embodied carbon emissions of 28 industry sectors in China from 2005 to 2017 and found that both embodied and direct carbon emissions are generally increasing, while the overall efficiency has improved. There are significant differences among industries, and the reduction potential of embodied carbon emissions is lower than that of direct carbon emissions.

Spatial effects of carbon emission intensity and regional development in China

Yingdong Wang et al.

Summary: This research on China's provincial carbon emission intensity and related influencing factors reveals that over time, there is a gradual decrease in carbon emission intensity from east to west and from south to north regions of China, showing regional differences. Measures such as reducing energy intensity, optimizing industrial structure, increasing foreign trade, and promoting financial development can effectively reduce carbon emission intensity.

Do energy use and economic policy uncertainty affect CO2 emissions in China? Empirical evidence from the dynamic ARDL simulation approach

Kashif Raza Abbasi et al.

Summary: The study examines the impact of energy use, economic policy uncertainty, and economic growth on China's CO2 emissions from 1970 to 2018. It finds that energy use and economic growth have significant effects on CO2 emissions, while economic policy uncertainty has a minor impact.

Low-carbon city pilot and carbon emission efficiency: Quasi-experimental evidence from China

Yantuan Yu et al.

Summary: This study identifies the causal effect of the low-carbon city pilot policy on carbon emission efficiency. The policy improved carbon emission efficiency by 1.7% and had a significant impact on both treated and untreated cities. Additionally, the impact on untreated neighboring cities was approximately 64% of that on treated cities.
