A Decline and Age Shift in Malaria Incidence in Rural Mali following Implementation of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention and Indoor Residual Spraying

Drissa Coulibaly et al.

Summary: The town of Bandiagara in Mali has seen stable malaria incidence, with significant declines in children under 5 years old, attributed to the implementation of various control strategies. However, there is a need to extend malaria control efforts to children over 5 years old.

Malaria and helminth co-infections in children living in endemic countries: A systematic review with meta-analysis

Muhammed O. Afolabi et al.

Summary: The review found high prevalence of malaria-helminth co-infections in children in endemic countries. Risk of Plasmodium infection was lower in children co-infected with Schistosoma or soil transmitted helminths, but the risk of anaemia was higher in children with dual infections. Understanding the epidemiology of co-infections is crucial for implementing effective interventions in low and middle-income countries.
