Point-of-care diagnostics for infectious diseases: From methods to devices

Chao Wang et al.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of developing point-of-care (POC) diagnostics, which offer advantages such as faster diagnostic speed, lower cost, and higher efficiency. Development of POC detection methods and devices using microfluidics, MEMS technology, nanotechnology and materials science is key to providing timely prevention and control of infectious diseases.

A review of reaction enhancement strategies for isothermal nucleic acid amplification reactions

Burcu Ozay et al.

Summary: In this review, various reaction additives and techniques to enhance the sensitivity, specificity, stability, robustness, or speed of isothermal nucleic acid amplification reactions for sensing applications are summarized. The mechanisms and purposes of each enhancement technique are provided to guide the selection of reaction additives to optimize novel isothermal amplification systems and assays.
