This study presents experimental results on plasma generation in a long, narrow metal tube using electron beam injection and the application of a negative potential. The threshold electron beam current for plasma initiation is found to increase with decreasing pressure, decreasing tube diameter, and increasingly negative tube potential.
We present results of experimental studies of plasma generation in a long, narrow metal tube by electron beam injection into the tube and simultaneous application of a negative potential to the tube. We show that the threshold electron beam current for plasma initiation increases with decreasing pressure, decreasing tube diameter, and increasingly negative tube potential.
