Molecular dynamics simulation of ionic liquid electrospray: Revealing the effects of interaction potential models

Jinrui Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the impact of different interaction potential models on the molecular dynamics simulation of electrospray thrusters and finds that the reduced charge all-atoms model is the most accurate. In contrast, coarse-grained models fail to reveal the true energy characteristics. Regardless of the operating conditions, the energy characteristics and velocity distribution of particles within the Taylor cone remain almost unchanged.

Ionic liquid electrospray behavior in a hybrid emitter electrospray thruster

Jinrui Zhang et al.

Summary: Electrospray thrusters are ideal for micro-nano satellites due to their small size, low power consumption, and high specific impulse. Novel electrospray thrusters with hybrid emitters are recommended to expand thrust range, with particle charge affecting droplet production in the electrospray beam.
