IRE1α-JNK pathway-mediated autophagy promotes cell survival in response to endoplasmic reticulum stress during the initial phase of hepatic steatosis

Pengbo Wu et al.

Summary: During the initial phase of hepatic steatosis, aggravated lipid accumulation, increased autophagy, and no alteration of apoptosis were observed under increased ER stress. The activation of the IRE1 alpha-JNK pathway during ER stress promoted cell survival by enhancing autophagy. Targeting this signaling pathway may offer new insights into preventive strategies for hepatic steatosis.

Longxuetongluo Capsule protects against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury through endoplasmic reticulum stress and MAPK-mediated mechanisms

Bo Pan et al.

Summary: In this study, LTC was found to protect against ischemia/reperfusion injury by inhibiting ER stress and MAPK-mediated mechanisms in PC12 cells and animal models. The anti-apoptotic effect of LTC was demonstrated by suppressing the cleavage of PARP, caspase-3, and caspase-9, as well as inhibiting the activation of PERK/eIF2α and IRE1/TRAF2 pathways.

Bile Reflux Gastropathy and Functional Dyspepsia

Summary: This study found an association between bile reflux gastropathy and functional dyspepsia, with bile reflux causing more severe symptoms. Cholecystectomy predisposes to bile gastropathy and abnormal pain, potentially contributing to the pathogenesis of functional dyspepsia.
