Magnetohydrodynamic thermal characteristics of water-based hybrid nanofluid-filled non-Darcian porous wavy enclosure: effect of undulation

Nirmalendu Biswas et al.

Summary: The study investigates thermal phenomena during MHD free convection in an oblique enclosure filled with a Cu-Al2O3/water hybrid nanofluid. Results show that increasing heating surface area does not always improve heat transfer, while increasing undulation amplitude can enhance heat transfer up to a certain optimal value. Heat transfer enhancement is influenced by the wall curvature at higher Ra-m, lower Da and Ha, and lower volume fraction of nanoparticles.

A narrative loom of hybrid nanofluid-filled wavy walled tilted porous enclosure imposing a partially active magnetic field

Nirmalendu Biswas et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that combining partial magnetic fields and complex wavy walls can enhance heat transfer efficiency while reducing circulation strength; compared to the whole-domain magnetic field, a partially active magnetic field has a smaller impact on reducing heat transfer; the middle-centered partial magnetic field plays a significant role in overall thermal behavior depending on parameters like active width, magnetic field intensity, and other factors.

Non-Darcian natural convection of a nanofluid due to triangular fins within trapezoidal enclosures partially filled with a thermal non-equilibrium porous layer

Sameh E. Ahmed

Summary: The numerical simulations investigated the convective transport due to triangular fins within an inclined trapezoidal enclosure containing a nanofluid layer and a non-Darcy porous layer. The study applied a local thermal non-equilibrium model and considered various cases based on the perimeter of the triangular fin. The results showed that the average Nusselt number increased significantly with varying Nield parameter and higher values of aspect ratio A and trapezoidal angle phi supported nanofluid activity.

Effects of half-sinusoidal nonuniform heating during MHD thermal convection in Cu-Al2O3/water hybrid nanofluid saturated with porous media

Nirmalendu Biswas et al.

Summary: This study aims to demonstrate a method for enhancing heat transfer through porous media using a hybrid nanofluid of Cu-Al2O3/water during magnetohydrodynamic flow. By heating a square cavity at the bottom with different frequencies of half-sinusoidal function, along with a uniform magnetic field, the study confirmed that hybrid nanofluid flow with multi-frequency spatial heating can improve thermal performance significantly.

Multiplicity of solution for natural convective heat transfer and entropy generation in a semi-elliptical enclosure

U. K. Sarkar et al.

Summary: The study investigates the steady natural convection in a bottom-heated semi-elliptical enclosure using the finite volume method for different geometric and flow configurations. It is found that for aspect ratios A =1, 0.75, and 0.5, multiple steady solutions with counter-rotating convection cells appear when the Rayleigh number exceeds a critical value; however, such multiplicity is not observed for A = 0.25.

Role of surface undulation during mixed bioconvective nanofluid flow in porous media in presence of oxytactic bacteria and magnetic fields

Dipak Kumar Mandal et al.

Summary: Thermo-bioconvection involving magnetohydrodynamic mixed bioconvection with oxytactic microorganisms suspended in copper-water nanofluid is studied in a complex enclosure. The undulating curved surface enhances heat transfer up to optimal magnitudes of undulations, and adjusting flow parameters and undulations can effectively control local and overall transport mechanisms. Bioconvection always favors heat transfer and can be found in the design of microbial fuel cells and nanotechnology-based bioconvection.

Summary: This study introduces the concept of multi-banding distribution of magnetic fields, which has a significant impact on transport phenomena and heat transfer through different numbers of bands, with the two-band magnetic field showing better heat transfer effects. Overall, the multi-banding technique is more energy efficient compared to the whole domain magnetic field and could be a prospective tool to control convective transports effectively, opening up potential research areas in the field of multi-physical applications.

Entropy Generation and MHD Convection within an Inclined Trapezoidal Heated by Triangular Fin and Filled by a Variable Porous Media

Ahmad Almuhtady et al.

Summary: The entropy analysis of a thermal system with an inclined trapezoidal geometry heated by a triangular fin is conducted using Al2O3-Cu hybrid nanofluids and porous materials with variable porosity and permeability. The increase in inclination angle leads to a decrease in heat transfer rate, while irreversibility due to temperature gradients dominates near the heated fins.

Summary: This study numerically investigates the MHD heat transfer of MWCNT nanoliquid inside a T-shaped cavity with trapezoidal equidistant fins while considering thermal radiation effects. The simulation model is conducted using Comsol Multiphysics, and the results highlight the importance of parameters such as Rayleigh and Hartmann quantities, as well as the height of trapezoidal fins.
