Characteristics of plasma parameters and turbulence in the isotope-mixing and the non-mixing states in hydrogen-deuterium mixture plasmas in the large helical device

K. Ida et al.

Summary: The characteristics of plasma parameters and turbulence in the isotope-mixing and the non-mixing states in hydrogen-deuterium mixture plasmas in the large helical device were discussed. The plasma parameters preferable for the non-mixing state are found to be lower collisionality, higher T-e/T-i, and negative or zero density gradient.

Anisotropic ExB shearing rate in a magnetic island

T. S. Hahm et al.

Summary: The ExB shearing rate associated with vortex flow inside a macroscopic magnetic island in toroidal geometry is found to be significantly lower near X points compared to the mid-plane of the island due to island elongation and incompressibility of the flow. The rate formally vanishes at X points where the local poloidal magnetic field stagnates. This finding aligns with recent experimental results showing turbulence tends to spread into the magnetic island through regions around X points.

Integration of full divertor detachment with improved core confinement for tokamak fusion plasmas

L. Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the excellent compatibility of actively controlled full divertor detachment with a high-performance core plasma. The high-beta(p) high-confinement scenario promotes divertor detachment and leads to a net gain in energy confinement, showing the potential of integrating excellent core plasma performance with an efficient divertor solution.
