Lightweight porous silica foams with extreme-low dielectric permittivity and loss for future 6G wireless communication technologies

Petra S. Palvolgyi et al.

Summary: In this study, highly porous and lightweight silica foams with extremely low permittivity and loss factor were synthesized by a template-assisted sol-gel method for applications in next generation wireless communication systems. Micropatterns of electrically conductive metals, such as Ag thin films, were successfully deposited on the smooth surfaces of the foams for radio frequency filter structures.

Dynamically tunable broadband absorber with a single ultra-thin layer of graphene in the terahertz regime

Nanning Yi et al.

Summary: In this study, a broadband terahertz absorber based on graphene was proposed, displaying insensitivity to incident polarization angle and oblique incidence angle. Numerical simulations demonstrated that the absorber achieved high absorbance in a wide frequency range and maintained this absorbance under oblique incidence, showcasing potential application prospects in modulators, sensors, and multispectral devices.

A tunable broadband graphene-based metamaterial absorber in the far-infrared region

Seyyed Moin Alden Mostaan et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new design of a broadband absorber using graphene, dielectric, and gold layers, which shows a significant increase in relative bandwidth compared to similar structures in recent years. The proposed absorber has a relatively simple fabrication process and can be used for far-infrared frequency range applications. The use of graphene in this metamaterial absorber allows for dynamic adjustability through electrostatic doping, offering potential applications in electro-absorption switches and modulators.

Multi-band terahertz superabsorbers based on perforated square-patch metamaterials

Ben-Xin Wang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a multi-band terahertz superabsorber with a surface structure consisting of a square metallic patch with a small rectangular hole, achieving high absorption rates in three resonant bands in the terahertz range. The introduced rectangular hole plays a key role in rearranging the near-field and introducing new resonance modes, providing control over the number of absorption peaks.
