Structural and sensing properties of ethanol gas using Pd-doped SnO2 thick film gas sensor

Ankit Kumar Vishwakarma et al.

Summary: In this study, undoped and Pd-doped SnO2 films were fabricated on alumina substrate using screen printing technology. The microstructural properties of the deposited sensing film were characterized using XRD and AFM, showing a decrease in crystallite size, grain size, and roughness parameter with Pd doping. The response of the sensor to ethanol gas was found to be maximum for 1 wt% Pd-doped SnO2, with an observed response/recovery time of approximately 41 s/125 s. The improvement in sensing behavior towards ethanol gas was attributed to the reduction in crystallinity and roughness of the film.

First-Principle study of lithium polysulfide adsorption on heteroatom doped graphitic carbon nitride for Lithium-Sulfur batteries

Nattida Yamsang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of graphitic carbon nitride nanosheet (g-C3N4) and its heteroatoms as chemical anchoring materials for suppressing the dissolution of intermediate lithium polysulfide species (LiPSs) into the liquid electrolyte in lithium-sulfur batteries. The introduction of dopant atoms such as B and P on g-C3N4 is found to stabilize LiPSs through lithium bond interaction, providing optimum adsorption energies for LSBs anchoring. However, O- and S-doped g-C3N4 show weaker adsorption, and electron transfers and van der Waals interactions play significant roles in LiPSs adsorption. Overall, this research offers fundamental insights into surface tuning of g-C3N4 by doping heteroatoms to reduce the shuttle effect, benefiting the development of advanced LSBs.
