Spongy ball-like copper oxide nanostructure modified by reduced graphene oxide for enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen production

A. A. Yadav et al.

Summary: In this study, spongy ball-like CuO and CuO/rGO photocatalysts were successfully synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method and demonstrated superior photocatalytic hydrogen production activity for the CuO/rGO composite compared to CuO. The CuO/rGO composite showed a hydrogen production rate nearly 3 times higher than that of the CuO photocatalyst.

Light trapping in ZnO nanowires to control ultraviolet photodetection responsivity

Nan Wang et al.

Summary: The high-performance ZnO nanowires array ultraviolet photodetectors synthesized via hydrothermal method exhibit strong light trapping effect and enhanced light responsivity. The ordered arrays of ZnO nanowires increase the photon path length and path length enhancement factor, reducing light loss and improving photoresponsivity.

Optical in-situ temperature management for high-quality ZnO molecular beam epitaxy

M. Albert et al.

Summary: Temperature management of substrates is crucial for molecular beam epitaxy and thin film deposition techniques. This work compares different in-situ methods for measuring substrate temperature and growth rate of wide band semiconductors like ZnO and GaN. By combining in-situ and ex-situ measurements with simulation data, characteristic behaviors of common substrate mounting techniques for Al2O3 and ZnO substrates are demonstrated, along with an investigation into the performance of reflectometry-based growth rate determination during ZnO homoepitaxy.

UV sensitivity enhancement in Fe-doped ZnO films grown by ultrafast spray pyrolysis

E. Nurfani et al.

Summary: The study investigates the influence of Fe doping on the structural and photosensitivity properties of ZnO thin films. It was found that Fe doping decreases crystallinity and crystallite size while increasing interplanar spacing and strain. Additionally, Fe doping significantly enhances photocurrent and UV sensitivity of ZnO thin films, making them more suitable for UV photodetection applications.

Fabricating and investigating high photoresponse UV photodetector based on Ni-doped ZnO nanostructures

Fatemeh Abbasi et al.

Summary: In this study, different concentrations of Ni-doped ZnO nanostructures were successfully prepared and evaluated. The incorporation of Ni into ZnO changed the shape of nanostructures and caused a blue shift in UV-visible spectra. UV photodetectors based on ZnO: Ni samples showed improved photoresponse time, with the sample doped with 7% Ni exhibiting the highest response rate.

Enhanced UV sensing of ZnO films by Cu doping

E. Nurfani et al.

Summary: ZnO:Cu films were deposited by ultrafast spray technique at 450 degrees C for 30 seconds, and their structural, optical, and electrical properties were investigated. The addition of different copper concentrations changed the crystal structure of the films and increased the grain size. When the copper concentration was 1.5 atomic%, the film exhibited the highest UV sensitivity.
