Fabrication and characterization of PVC based flexible nanocomposites for the shielding against EMI, NIR, and thermal imaging signals

Summary: Polypyrrole (PPy) and barium hexaferrite (BaFe) were successfully prepared and applied in nanocomposites based on PVC matrix, achieving electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and infrared (IR) shielding at microwave frequency and near-infrared wavelength. PPy had a significant effect on electrical conductivity, while BaFe had a negligible impact. The nanocomposites fabricated by solution casting method showed excellent shielding performance in the NIR region.
