The common triggers of urticaria in children admitted to the pediatric emergency room

Epidemiology, comorbidities, and healthcare utilization of patients with chronic urticaria in Germany

Summary: Comprehensive data on the epidemiology and comorbidities of chronic urticaria (CU) in Germany are limited, so this study aimed to investigate the epidemiology and healthcare resource utilization of CU patients in Germany using an anonymized SHI database. The results showed a prevalence of 0.5% with females having higher diagnosed rates than males, and the most common comorbidities included hypertensive diseases, lipoprotein metabolism disorders, and affective disorders. More awareness and adherence to treatment guidelines are needed to improve outcomes for patients with CU.

Etiological and predictive factors of pediatric urticaria in an emergency context

It found that infection was the most common cause of urticaria, with a strong association to underlying allergic diseases, emphasizing the importance of considering infection as a cause of urticaria in pediatric patients, even without fever.
