Gondolelloid multielement conodont apparatus (Scythogondolella) from the Lower Triassic of Jiangsu, East China, revealed by high-resolution X-ray microtomography

Zuo-Yu Sun et al.

Summary: The application of high-resolution X-ray microtomography in studying conodont natural assemblages provided new information on element structures and enabled three-dimensional reconstructions of apparatuses. The study on Scythogondolella milleri confirmed its octomembrate apparatus composed of 15 elements and found similarities with other gondolelloid apparatuses like Neogondolella, Novispathodus, and Nicoraella. Scythogondolella's element morphology closely resembles that of Neogondolella apparatus, with some differences in certain elements.

Carbon isotope chemostratigraphy and conodont biostratigraphy around the Smithian - Spathian boundary in the Panthalassan carbonate succession (SW Japan)

Takumi Maekawa et al.

Summary: The Tahogawa Member of the Triassic Taho Formation in Southwest Japan is mainly composed of light, dark, and brownish gray bedded limestones and contains abundant Lower to Middle Triassic conodonts. The carbon isotope (delta C-13(carb)) curve shows a rapid deviation from late Smithian to early Spathian, corresponding to global carbon isotope positive and following negative excursions reported from various regions. The combination of delta C-13(carb) and conodont stratigraphic data allows correlation between the eastern Tethys and Panthalassan regions.

Early Triassic Pachycladina fauna newly found in the southern Lhasa Terrane of Tibet and its palaeogeographic implications

Gui-chun Wu et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the disputed tectonic nature of the Lhasa Terrane during the Triassic period, presenting two contrasting views on its geological characteristics. The study suggests that the Lhasa Terrane may have been a low-latitude carbonate platform separated from Gondwana during the Early Triassic. Further research is encouraged to explore the Triassic sedimentary history and paleogeographic evolution of the Lhasa Terrane.

Smithian and Spathian (Early Triassic) conodonts from Oman and Croatia and their depth habitat revealed

Yanlong Chen et al.

Summary: The study revealed differences in oxygen isotopic composition between different taxa of conodonts from Omani samples, indicating that Neogondolella lived in a cooler environment compared to other taxa. Additionally, the investigation resulted in the discovery of rarely reported conodont species from Oman, which were also found in Croatia, expanding their geographical distribution.

Integrated bio-chemostratigraphy of Lower and Middle Triassic marine successions at Spiti in the Indian Himalaya: Implications for the Early Triassic nutrient crisis

Y. D. Sun et al.

Summary: The study of the Lilang Super Group in the Spiti area of the Indian Himalaya reveals environmental changes during the Early Triassic, with shifts in carbon and organic carbon isotope ratios reflecting changes in sedimentary and paleontological evidence. Anoxic conditions in the early stages later transitioned to well-oxygenated sediments, coinciding with a decrease in terrestrial input.

Permian-Triassic biofacies of the Teoc?ak section, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Tea Kolar-Jurkovsek et al.

Summary: This study examined the sedimentology and micropaleontology of the Teoc?ak section in Bosnia and Herzegovina, revealing the presence of Permian and Triassic strata in the region. The findings include insights into the depositional environment, conodont faunas, and proposed conodont biozonation, which contributes significantly to the paleobiogeographic correlation of the Western Tethys region.

Summary: By analyzing detrital zircon U-Pb ages, trace element, and Hf isotopic data, the study supports the hypothesis that the South China Block became a part of Pangea during the Late Permian to Middle Triassic.

Roadian-Wordian (Middle Permian) Conodont Biostratigraphy, Sedimentary Facies and Paleotemperature Evolution at the Shuixiakou Section, Xikou Area, Southeastern Qinling Region, China

Baojin Wu et al.

Summary: Conducting a study on the Roadian-Wordian conodonts in the Shuixiakou Section in Shaanxi Province, China, has revealed the presence of numerous conodont elements and led to the identification of the Jinogondolella aserrata zones. The boundary between the Roadian and Wordian has been tentatively defined, and the sedimentary record of the area shows similar sea-level changes to those observed in the Laibin area. Additionally, a temperature drop indicated by delta O-18(apatite) values suggests a period of glaciation and global regression during the Wordian interval.

Hanxiao Li et al.

Summary: This study presents the first report on Carnian conodonts and carbon isotope records from the Upper Triassic Dengdengqiao Formation in the Qinling Basin, China. The findings suggest that the formation is at least partly of Carnian age and may include younger strata, with evidence of a unique ecosystem with rare marine organisms.
