Factors associated with upper limb function in breast cancer survivors

Cristina Roldan-Jimenez et al.

Summary: Breast cancer survivors may experience impaired upper limb function after surgery, which can be influenced by various factors. This study found that greater upper limb function was associated with higher grip strength, lower fear-avoidance behavior, and fewer central sensitization symptoms among breast cancer survivors. These variables accounted for 45% of the variance in upper limb function, highlighting the importance of considering strength, fear avoidance, and central sensitization symptoms when designing interventions to improve upper limb function in breast cancer survivors.

Structural validity and reliability of the Spanish Central Sensitization Inventory in breast cancer survivors

Cristina Roldan-Jimenez et al.

Summary: The study confirmed that the Spanish version of the Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI-Sp) is a psychometrically strong tool for assessing central sensitization symptoms in breast cancer survivors. It showed high internal consistency, satisfactory test-retest reliability, and a one-factor structure explaining a significant portion of the variance. Further research is needed to examine other measurement properties in different Spanish clinical populations.

Validity and reliability of the Spanish fear-avoidance components scale in breast cancer survivors

Daniel Gutierrez-Sanchez et al.

Summary: The study conducted a psychometric analysis of the Fear-Avoidance Components Scale (FACS-Sp) in Spanish breast cancer survivors, demonstrating high internal consistency, one factor structure explaining 40.80% of total variance, and convergent validity with the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) and the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS).
