The circular RNA circTXNRD1 promoted ambient particulate matter-induced inflammation in human bronchial epithelial cells by regulating miR-892a/COX-2 axis

Jian Wang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that PM exposure upregulates circTXNRD1 in HBECs, leading to decreased miR-892a levels, increased COX-2 expression, enhanced IL-6 secretion, and ultimately contributing to airway inflammation. These findings offer new insights into the mechanism of PM-induced inflammation in chronic airway diseases.

Protective Effect of Edaravone against Cationic Lipid-Mediated Oxidative Stress and Apoptosis

Takeshi Terada et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the use of an ROS scavenger, edaravone, to reduce toxicity induced by cationic liposomes, finding that short-term treatment with edaravone alone was not effective in suppressing cytotoxicity. However, significant improvement in cell viability was observed when edaravone was administered after short-term exposure to cationic liposomes for 24 hours, suggesting that continuous administration of edaravone as a concomitant drug may help suppress adverse reactions in therapeutic treatment with cationic liposomes.

Redox treatment ameliorates diabetes mellitus-induced skin flap necrosis via inhibiting apoptosis and promoting neoangiogenesis

Yeon S. Kim et al.

Summary: The study found that the free radical scavenger Edaravone (EDV) can reduce oxidative stress in wound healing and promote angiogenesis in in vitro and in vivo models. Results suggest that EDV can protect cells from oxidative stress-induced damage and increase angiogenesis.

Edaravone attenuates neuronal apoptosis in hippocampus of rat traumatic brain injury model via activation of BDNF/TrkB signaling pathway

Yuexia Ding et al.

Summary: Treatment with edaravone significantly alleviated neurological impairment induced by TBI and improved cognitive function outcomes. The neuroprotective effects of edaravone may be attributed to modulation of the BDNF/TrkB signaling pathway, leading to reduced apoptosis in hippocampal neurons.

Summary: Edaravone has shown to be effective in improving neurological impairment and survival benefits at three-month follow-up in Asian countries. The effects of Edaravone vary in different age groups and treatment durations. More well-designed RCTs are needed to determine the benefits of Edaravone in patients from Western countries.

The mitochondria-targeted antioxidant MitoQ attenuated PM2.5-induced vascular fibrosis via regulating mitophagy

Ruihong Ning et al.

Summary: MitoQ treatment can partly alleviate vascular damage caused by PM2.5 exposure by improving mitochondrial quality control, reducing mitochondrial oxidative stress, promoting mitophagy regulated by PINK1 and Parkin functions. Additionally, MitoQ can reverse mitochondrial dysfunction and fragmentation induced by PM2.5.

Edaravone attenuates cadmium-induced toxicity by inhibiting oxidative stress and inflammation in ICR mice

Sheng-Rui Fan et al.

Summary: The study showed that Edaravone has a protective effect against cadmium-induced toxicity by preventing oxidative stress and inflammatory responses, leading to restoration of neuronal function. The BDNF-TrkB/Akt and Notch/HES-1 signaling axes play a role in Edaravone's response to eliminate cadmium toxicity.
