Synthesis of 2,3-Bis(trifluoromethylseleno) Indoles through an Oxidative Copper-Mediated Domino Reaction

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: An oxidative copper-mediated double trifluorome-thylselenolation of terminal 2-alkynylanilines using [(bpy)-CuSeCF3](2) is reported, providing a moderately efficient and convenient approach to 2,3-bis(trifluoromethylseleno)indoles. Mechanistic studies show that a cascade sequence of oxidation, trifluoromethylselenolation, 5-endo-dig cyclization, and elimination is involved in this transformation.

An aerobic copper-mediated domino process for the synthesis of 3-(trifluoromethylseleno)indoles

Hui Wang et al.

Summary: An aerobic copper-mediated domino reaction for the synthesis of 3-(trifluoromethylseleno)indoles by trifluoromethylselenolation of N-Ts 2-alkynylaniline with [(bpy)CuSeCF3](2) is described. This reaction proceeds through sequential oxidation, alkyne coordination, and deprotonation followed by reductive elimination. The method is mild, robust, and highly functional group tolerant, providing moderate to good yields of 3-(trifluoromethylseleno)indoles.

Trifluoromethylthiolation/Selenolation and Lactonization of 2-Alkynylbenzoate: The Application of Benzyl Trifluoromethyl Sulfoxide/Selenium Sulfoxides as SCF3/SeCF3 Reagents

Haofeng Shi et al.

Summary: In this study, the combined use of BnS(O)CF3/BnSe(O)CF3 with Tf2O was employed to achieve the efficient synthesis of 4-(trifluoromethylthio/ trifluoromethylseleno)isocoumarins from 2-alkynylbenzoates, which is of significance in biological research. The mechanistic pathway was proposed to involve interrupted Pummerer reactions followed by a concerted trifluoromethylthiolation/selenolation and lactonization process.

(Trifluoromethylselenyl)methylchalcogenyl as Emerging Fluorinated Groups: Synthesis under Photoredox Catalysis and Determination of the Lipophilicity

Kevin Grollier et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for synthesizing molecules bearing (trifluoromethylselenyl)methylchalcogenyl groups, with good yields up to 88% and up to 98% in flow chemistry conditions. The mechanism of this key reaction was investigated, and the emerging groups were physicochemically characterized. Additionally, the reaction was extended to perfluoroalkylselenolation with yields up to 95%, and successfully applied to the functionalization of bioactive molecules.

Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of CF3Se-Substituted α-Amino Acid Derivatives

Zhou-Zhou Han et al.

Summary: Several CF3Se-substituted alpha-amino acid derivatives were synthesized from natural amino acids and [Me4N][SeCF3], showing promising cytotoxicity towards MCF-7, HCT116, and SK-OV-3 cells. Compounds 6a, 11a, and 12a were found to be more effective inhibitors with IC50 values less than 10 μM for MCF-7 and HCT116 cells, suggesting the potential of CF3Se moiety as a pharmaceutically relevant group for designing novel biologically active molecules.
