Tailoring micro/nanostructured porous polytetrafluoroethylene surfaces for dual-reversible transition of wettability and transmittance

Kai Yin et al.

Summary: In this study, a textured polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film with hierarchical porous micro/nanostructures was fabricated using femtosecond laser technology. The film exhibited both superhydrophobicity and opacity, and its wettability and optical transmittance could be simultaneously controlled. By prewetting and drying the film, it could switch between superhydrophilicity and superhydrophobicity. The study demonstrated the potential applications of this smart surface in light pass/block controlling, anti-fogging, and cooling.

Femtosecond laser textured porous nanowire structured glass for enhanced thermal imaging

Tingni Wu et al.

Summary: Infrared (IR) thermal imaging has wide applications in various fields. We propose a simple and effective method using femtosecond laser scanning to process porous glass, improving its IR thermal radiation performance. The treated glass has lower transmittance to visible light but shows a closer temperature to the actual environment in different backgrounds, providing a new vision for enhanced thermal imaging.

Solar-driven thermal-wind synergistic effect on laser-textured superhydrophilic copper foam architectures for ultrahigh efficient vapor generation

Kai Yin et al.

Summary: Solar-driven vapor generation is enhanced by combining thermal and wind effects on a superhydrophilic copper foam surface, increasing the rate of water evaporation. The treated surface absorbs significant solar power which can be converted into heat for steam generation, while a pre-wetted sponge minimizes heat loss and helps maintain high evaporation rates.

Nonreciprocal high-order sidebands induced by magnon Kerr nonlinearity

Mei Wang et al.

Summary: The proposed method relies on magnon Kerr nonlinearity in a cavity magnonics system to induce strong transmission nonreciprocity of high-order sidebands at microwave frequencies. Higher sideband orders result in stronger transmission nonreciprocity, marked by higher isolation ratio in the optimal detuning regime, with potential applications in frequency comblike precision measurement and high-performance on-chip nonreciprocal devices.

Bistability of squeezing and entanglement in cavity magnonics

Zhi-Bo Yang et al.

Summary: In a nonlinear cavity magnonic system, strong driving of the magnon mode by a microwave field can lead to magnon Kerr nonlinearity creating bistability of quantum states, enabling squeezed states for magnons and photons as well as magnon-photon entanglement. Additionally, the Kittel mode exhibits hysteresis loop phenomenon by jumping between states near two switching points.
