High Sensing Properties of Magnetic Plasmon Resonance by Strong Coupling in Three-Dimensional Metamaterials

Jing Chen et al.

Summary: The study introduces a method to enhance the sensing properties of a 3D metamaterial sensor by combining magnetic plasmon resonance and a dielectric waveguide. The hybrid magnetic plasmon resonance formed by vertical split ring resonators and a propagating optical waveguide mode results in high sensitivity and figure of merit, making it suitable for label-free biosensing applications.

Strong Magnetic Plasmon Resonance in a Simple Metasurface for High-Quality Sensing

Jing Chen et al.

Summary: A simple metasurface design with closely spaced Ag nanowires on Ag substrate is proposed for strong magnetic plasmon resonance. The magnetic field intensity and spectral linewidth of the resonance can be tuned by adjusting nanowire height and spacing. The metasurface shows high sensitivity and figure of merit, making it suitable for label-free biosensing applications.

Ultrafast all-optical metamaterial terahertz switch by exploiting nanoparticle-enriched substrate nonlinearity and graphene resonators

Nasrollah Karampour et al.

Summary: The emergence of graphene with unique optical properties has led to the proposal of a new THz switch that utilizes the optical Kerr effect. The structure achieves high absorption values and a fast switching time, making it an ideal candidate for all-optical devices in the THz regime. The absorption spectrum of the switch can be manipulated by controlling the chemical potential of graphene layers, which is useful for electro-optical modulation applications.
