It also highlights the emerging goal of healthcare systems to provide high-value care and urges nurses to become leaders in producing high-value healthcare.
This series clarifies the meaning and implications of value-based payment and highlights the opportunities for nurses to improve patient care and gain empower-ment. In Part 1 of this series, we explained the concept of value-informed nursing practice and the knowledge nurses need to engage in it. (Yakusheva, Rambur, & Buerhaus n.d.) Elsewhere, we have discussed the ethi-cal basis for embracing value-based nursing practice and how it can help reset the relationship between nurses and hospitals.(Yakusheva, Rambur, & Buer -haus, 2020, 2021) Here, we explain the emerging goal of health care systems to provide access to high-value care. This shift urges the nursing workforce to get behind this change and become leaders in producing high-value healthcare.
