Applications and strategies in nanodiagnosis and nanotherapy in lung cancer

Christopher Woodman et al.

Summary: Lung cancer is the second most common cancer globally, with diagnosis often at an advanced stage and poor prognosis. Nanotechnology is a rapidly growing field that shows promise in addressing biological problems like cancer, with therapies based on nanoparticles increasingly being used for diagnosis and treatment.

Impact of ERCC2 Lys751Gln (rs13181), ERCC2 Asp312Asn (rs1799793) and XRCC1 Arg399Gln (rs25487) polymorphisms on the risk of prostate cancer among cases from the central region of Saudi Arabia

Waleed Al Abdulmonem et al.

Summary: This study found that the ERCC2 (Lys751Gln) polymorphism was not associated with the risk of prostate cancer, while the ERCC2 (Asp312Asn) and XRCC1 (Arg399Gln) polymorphisms showed a significant association with an increased risk of prostate cancer. This genetic association was particularly pronounced in aged populations and smokers.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.
