Event-trigger-based adaptive fuzzy hierarchical sliding mode control of uncertain under-actuated switched nonlinear systems

Ning Xu et al.

Summary: In this technical note, an adaptive fuzzy hierarchical sliding mode control method is proposed for dealing with the control problem of under-actuated switched nonlinear systems. The method takes into account the issues of unknown uncertain functions and aperiodically updating input, and tackles the problem caused by unknown system uncertainties by introducing hierarchical structure and fuzzy logic systems' universal approximation.

Adaptive neural decentralised control for switched interconnected nonlinear systems with backlash-like hysteresis and output constraints

Yanwei Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper explores the issue of adaptive neural decentralised tracking control for a class of output-constraint switched interconnected nonlinear systems with unknown backlash-like hysteresis control input. The proposed method uses neural networks to approximate unknown nonlinear functions and design a switched state observer, and solves the problem of output constraints by introducing barrier Lyapunov functions. The Lyapunov stability theory is used to verify the boundedness of all signals in the switched closed-loop system. The effectiveness of the adaptive decentralised control scheme is demonstrated through numerical simulation results.

Guaranteed cost positive consensus for multi-agent systems with multiple time-varying delays and MDADT switching

Xiangyang Cao et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the guaranteed cost positive consensus for linear multi-agent systems (MASs) with multiple time-varying delays and switching topologies. The positive consensus criterion and switching signals are derived by combining multiple Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals with mode-dependent average dwell time approaches. It realizes a trade-off between the consensus regulation performance and the control energy consumption of MASs.

Event-triggered consensus control of continuous-time stochastic multi-agent systems

Xiangyang Cao et al.

Summary: This paper addresses the event-triggered consensus of stochastic multi-agent systems by proposing a novel event-triggered mechanism and analyzing the input-to-state stability. The proposed approach effectively avoids infinitely fast execution and achieves consensus in the almost sure sense. The research provides a potential pattern for achieving event-triggered consensus in more general stochastic linear/nonlinear multi-agent systems.

Small-Gain Technique-Based Adaptive Neural Output-Feedback Fault-Tolerant Control of Switched Nonlinear Systems With Unmodeled Dynamics

Li Ma et al.

Summary: This study addresses the issue of adaptive neural fault-tolerant control for uncertain switched nonstrict-feedback nonlinear systems by using radial basis function neural networks to identify uncertain parts. A controller with only three adaptive laws is developed based on small-gain technique, input-to-state practical stability theory, and common Lyapunov function approach. The designed controller ensures bounded closed-loop signals under arbitrary switching and convergence of tracking error to a small area around the origin.

Consensus of nonlinear multiagent systems with intermittent dynamic event-triggered protocols

Aihua Hu et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the consensus of leader-following multiagent systems with nonlinear dynamics, introducing an event-triggered mechanism to reduce the update frequency of control protocols. Two forms of event-triggered schemes and corresponding distributed control protocols are designed, with sufficient conditions and a concrete algorithm presented based on graph theory and Lyapunov function method. The intermittent dynamic event-triggered protocols effectively lower control frequency and eliminate Zeno behavior, demonstrated through detailed numerical examples.

Sliding-mode surface-based adaptive actor-critic optimal control for switched nonlinear systems with average dwell time

Haoyan Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper studies adaptive optimal control based on sliding-mode surface (SMS) for a class of continuous-time switched nonlinear systems with average dwell time (ADT) using actor-critic reinforcement learning strategy. By developing a specific cost function related to SMS, the original control problem is transformed into finding a series of optimal control policies through AC neural networks. The proposed method is shown to ensure the boundedness of all signals in the considered closed-loop switched nonlinear systems through Lyapunov stability theory.

Simplified Optimized Backstepping Control for a Class of Nonlinear Strict-Feedback Systems With Unknown Dynamic Functions

Guoxing Wen et al.

Summary: In this article, a control scheme based on optimized backstepping (OB) technique is developed for nonlinear strict-feedback systems with unknown dynamic functions using reinforcement learning (RL) designed on neural-network (NN) approximations. The control is achieved through identifier-critic-actor architecture for estimating unknown dynamics, evaluating system performance, and implementing control actions. The optimized control design effectively simplifies the RL algorithm by deriving updating laws from the negative gradient of a simple positive function generated from the HJB equation.
