Laser chirping in inverse Compton sources at high electron beam energies and high laser intensities

Summary: Chirping can compensate for ponderomotive broadening in inverse Compton sources and extend to the Compton regime with proper consideration of electron recoil. A new model and generalized expressions have been presented for computation of scattered spectra in the Compton regime. Higher-order harmonics in sources with high laser fields will be nonlinearly redshifted compared to those with lower beam energies, and chirping can correct ponderomotive broadening in very high harmonics.
