Multimodal MRI data fusion reveals distinct structural, functional and neurochemical correlates of heavy cannabis use

Dusan Hirjak et al.

Summary: This study utilized multimodal MRI to investigate the impact of heavy cannabis use (HCU) on neural structure and function, revealing significant differences between HCU individuals and controls, as well as significant associations with specific neurotransmitter systems.

Association between age of cannabis initiation and gray matter covariance networks in recent onset psychosis

Nora Penzel et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that early initiation of cannabis is associated with more severe positive symptoms of psychosis, and changes in gray matter volume can affect the risk of psychosis. These findings are consistent with previous investigations in healthy cannabis users.

Structural correlates of sensorimotor dysfunction in heavy cannabis users

Robert Christian Wolf et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationships between neurological soft signs (NSS) and gray matter volume (GMV) in males with heavy cannabis use and controls. The results showed that individuals with heavy cannabis use exhibited higher NSS total scores and significant differences in various NSS subdomains compared to controls. Neuroimaging analysis revealed interactions between NSS and GMV in multiple brain regions, suggesting abnormal sensorimotor performance associated with heavy cannabis use.

Catatonia Related to Cannabis and Synthetic Cannabinoids: A Review

Raul Felipe Palma-Alvarez et al.

Summary: This review systematically analyzed current clinical publications on catatonia induced by cannabis or synthetic cannabinoids, finding that these substances may be related to catatonia-like symptoms and catatonia syndrome. Further research is needed to understand the exact nature of this relationship and investigate the clinical significance of catatonia-like symptoms induced by cannabis and synthetic cannabinoids in patients.
