Differences between cardiac implantable electronic device envelopes evaluated in an animal model

James E. Ip et al.

Summary: This study compared the TYRX absorbable antibacterial and CanGaroo extracellular matrix (ECM) envelopes in an animal model for cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED) pocket-related complications. Results showed that the CanGaroo group had more device erosion at 12 weeks, thicker capsules, and increased connective tissue staining on histological evaluation. Further research is needed to understand the implications of these findings on preventing device erosion and capsule formation.
