Resting-state networks and reading in adults with and without reading impairments

Kulpreet Cheema et al.

Summary: The study found that connectivity of the left inferior frontal gyrus is highly related to reading behavior for impaired readers but less so for skilled readers. The default mode network and salience RSNs were found to be less integrated with major reading-associated areas in the impaired group. While RSNs are connected to the RdN regions, they are not related to reading behavior.

Resting-state functional connectivity and reading subskills in children

Alexandra M. Cross et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between different reading subskills and brain functional connectivity in children using resting-state fMRI. The findings revealed both positive and negative relationships between different reading subskills and brain functional connectivity, suggesting that different components of reading ability are influenced by distinct functional connections in the brain.

The early origins and the growing popularity of the individual-subject analytic approach in human neuroscience

Evelina Fedorenko

Summary: fMRI has greatly impacted cognitive neuroscience, with individual analyses replacing group analyses. While group analyses have limitations in understanding human cognitive architecture, individual analyses are seen as more effective and likely the future direction of research in human neuroscience.
