Cerebral autoregulation is heterogeneous in different stroke mechanism of ischemic stroke caused by intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis

Ge Tian et al.

Summary: This study found that CA impairment varies in different stroke mechanisms caused by ICAS. In patients with POPA, CA was impaired ipsilaterally, while in other stroke mechanisms, CA was impaired bilaterally. CA on the ipsilateral hemisphere correlated with hypertension/hyperlipidemia in patients with POPA, and with perfusion parameters and collateral circulation status in patients with the hypoperfusion mechanism.

Hemorrhagic Transformation in Ischemic Stroke and the Role of Inflammation

Elena Spronk et al.

Summary: Hemorrhagic transformation is a common complication in acute ischemic stroke patients, with factors such as stroke severity, reperfusion therapy, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and age increasing the risk. Inflammation and the immune system play important roles in BBB disruption and HT, with therapies targeting these pathways being potential strategies to reduce the risk of HT.
