Effect of nanotube diameter on the photocatalytic activity of bimetallic AgAu nanoparticles grafted 1D-TiO2 nanotubes

P. Bamola et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of different voltages on the structural and morphological properties of 1D titanium dioxide nanotubes, as well as the integration of bimetallic nanoparticles into these nanotubes. It is found that increasing the anodization voltage leads to larger diameters of the nanotubes and improved crystallinity, while the hybrid structures show enhanced photocatalytic activity due to their larger surface area and improved charge separation.

2D materials and their heterostructures for photocatalytic water splitting and conversion of CO2 to value chemicals and fuels

G. Shiva Shanker et al.

Summary: The rapid increase in global energy consumption from conventional polluting fuels has put tremendous pressure on the environment, highlighting the urgent need to transition to environment-friendly, renewable energy sources. Producing hydrogen energy from water using sunlight appears to be a promising approach, while 2D materials and heterostructures are attracting attention for their potential in efficient hydrogen production and CO2 conversion. Efforts are being made to design high-performance photocatalysts based on emergent functional materials to address the challenges in advancing this energy technology.
