Manipulating Interfacial Thermal Conduction of 2D Janus Heterostructure via a Thermo-Mechanical Coupling

Kai Ren et al.

Summary: This work reports on the interfacial thermal conduction (ITC) behavior in 2D heterostructures constructed using MoSSe and WSSe. It was found that the ITC in the normally connected heterostructure is almost twice as much as that in the inversely connected heterostructure. This unusual change in ITC is attributed to the bending curvature and additional discontinuity in the inversely connected heterostructure.

Stacking-Mediated Type-I/Type-II Transition in Two-Dimensional MoTe2/PtS2 Heterostructure: A First-Principles Simulation

Kai Ren et al.

Summary: In this study, the electronic characteristics and properties of a MoTe2/PtS2 van der Waals heterostructure (vdWH) were investigated through density functional calculations. The study found that the stacking structures of the heterostructure have a significant impact on the band structure, and proposed suitable stacking configurations for both photocatalytic and light-emitting device applications. The band alignment and potential drop were also studied to prevent charge recombination, and the heterostructure showed excellent optical absorption capacity in the visible wavelength range. The research provides a theoretical guide for designing and controlling 2D heterostructures for photocatalytic and photovoltaic devices.

Half-metallicity and Curie temperature enhancement of CrI3 through boron atoms adsorption

Shoujian Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of boron atom adsorption on monolayer CrI3, revealing that boron atom adsorption can enhance the magnetic moment of CrI3 and lead to different electronic structures and magnetic properties. After boron atom adsorption, the magnetic moment of CrI3 is enhanced, resulting in different magnetic transitions and Curie temperatures.

Remarkably improved Curie temperature for two-dimensional CrI3 by gas molecular adsorption: a DFT study

Zijun Zheng et al.

Summary: Through first-principles simulations, the electronic and magnetic characteristics of two-dimensional CrI3 adsorbed by gas molecules were systematically calculated. The results show that the adsorption of gas molecules can significantly enhance the ferromagnetic couplings of monolayer CrI3, with N-2 adsorption leading to a 2.6 times improvement in Curie temperatures. These findings may generate more interest in the field of 2D ferromagnetic semiconductors.

Mechanical, electronic and optical properties of a novel B2P6 monolayer: ultrahigh carrier mobility and strong optical absorption

Kai Ren et al.

Summary: In this study, the mechanical, electronic, and optical properties of a B2P6 monolayer were systematically investigated using first-principles calculations. The anisotropic nature and ultra-high electron mobility of B2P6 were highlighted, along with its potential for transforming from an indirect to direct band gap under biaxial tensile strain. Additionally, the decreased band gap and enhanced visible light absorption make B2P6 promising for applications in photocatalytic and photovoltaic devices.

The induction of half-metallicity and enhanced ferromagnetism in a Cr2Ge2Te6 monolayer via electron doping and alkali metal adsorption

Asif Ilyas et al.

Summary: This article investigates the effects of electron- and hole-doping on a 2D Cr2Ge2Te6 (CGT) monolayer, revealing that electron-doping induces half-metallicity and enhances magnetism, particularly in improving ferromagnetic stability. Adsorption of alkali and alkaline-earth metals manipulates electron-doping effects by pushing up the Fermi level, allowing the spin-up channel to conduct while the spin-down channel remains insulating.
