Goos-Hanchen shifts of Gaussian beams reflected from surfaces coated with cross-anisotropic metasurfaces

Weiming Zhen et al.

Summary: It is theoretically investigated the influence of a cross-anisotropic metasurface (CM) coating on the Goos-Hanchen (GH) shift of a Gaussian beam reflected from surfaces, particularly at the total internal reflection condition near critical angle theta(c). The results show that the CM coating can induce larger peak spatial GH shift and a pair of positive and negative peaks angular GH shifts, providing new possibilities for applications of the CMs.

Photonic spin Hall effect in twisted bilayer graphene

Zefeng Chen et al.

Summary: By calculating the optical conductivities of twisted bilayer graphene and studying the light-matter interaction, we investigated the photonic spin Hall effect in this material. Placing the graphene on a substrate and launching a Gaussian beam near the Brewster angle enhanced the effect, revealing the spin splitting and Goos-Hanchen shifts associated with the surface conductivities. These findings deepen our understanding and indicate potential applications in characterizing bilayer graphene.
